2008 Promises to be an INcredibly busy year.
In 2008, I am returning to do a Masters of Music (Research) at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
“Jazz” and “classical” have merged to such an extent that it is often difficult to categorise players into one genre or the other. Third Stream music was a term coined in 1957 by Gunther Schuller to describe a musical genre which is a synthesis of classical music and jazz, but the term itself is often defined more in terms of what it isn’t, rather than what it is. On Saturday 13 September, I am presenting a concert of music at the Brisbane Powerhouse, using 2 different ensembles (the Seventh Chapter and the Trickster Project) that feature the trumpet, that both play music that blends genres including classical, jazz, rock and hip-hop.
